The Brief

I joined Paradigm on a 6 month contract as a product designer and took responsibility for the design process. I steered the team towards conducting user research before venturing into the design.

The mission at Paradigm was to build a platform leveraging the technology and creativity of NFTs as a force for good and to fund positive impact projects around the world.

Project Summary

Over a 6 month period, I worked closely with the CEO and CTO. I conducted various forms of primary and secondary research to ultimately design a product to empower charities and NGOs within the emerging Web3 space.

Conducting interviews with various NGOs I discovered there was a need to attract new recurring audiences and passive donations. Constantly on the look for new leads takes time away from the actual work.

My Impact

As a UX team of one I used my experience to shift the mindset from “can you get a prototype developed asap?” to “let us conduct some primary research first and understand our audience better”. This influence allowed me to uncover insights that lead to reshaping the product strategy from artist/creator lead to organisation lead.

I was involved in crucial discussions around the product strategy which expanded my mindset from just launching products or features to the world of vision.

Takeaways

  1. This project provided an excellent opportunity to jump head first into the quickly growing world of Web3. I had the opportunity to learn more about NFTs, Crypto currency and how the underpinning technology of blockchain works.

  2. Working as a UX team of one I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and covered the design process from early research, analysis, ideation and then planning to testing.

  3. I learnt how storytelling played a part in how to influence senior stakeholders to adopt a user centred discovery process in order to genuinely solve a problem.
